The Battle Begins; West Indies All Out on 234 in First Innings

india vs wiNovember 6 – Finally wait of countless fans came to an end as soon as India and West Indies arrived on the ground of Eden Gardens, which is believed as one of the most excellent cricket stadiums on the planet. West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the decision seemed turning inappropriate when WI lost all its 10 wickets on an average score of 234.

M Shami was the highest wicket taker in the match, getting 4 wickets, while R Ahwin took 2 wickets. Master Blaster, who is playing the very second last match prior to his retirement, also got one wicket by dismissing Shane Shillingford that was cheered by huge fans who made to the stadium just to have glimpse of the legendary cricketer. He absolutely enthralled Eden with this wicket. B Kumar and P Ojha also grabbed 1- 1 wicket each.

Samuels was the highest scorer from the batting side, scoring 65 runs in 98 balls, hitting 11 fours and couple of sixes. As far as Indian batting was concerned, by the end of the day India made 37 runs without losing a wicket, trailing by 197 runs. Shikhar Dhawan remained not out at 21 and Murali Vijay at 16 at the end of the 1st day match.

On Sachin’s 199th international test cricket, his better half –Anjali also marked her presence in the stadium to see him play live. Little Master holds 24th spot in current ICC test ranking for batsmen. Everyone is expecting Sachin to hit a ton. Sachin mania is all around in Kolkata and evidence was visible as huge crowd gathered both inside and outside Eden Gardens so to cheer up for ‘Cricket of God’. Tendulkar will play his 200th and final International test match against the same team in Wankhede stadium, Mumbai that has been scheduled to begin from 14th November.
