Elena Duggan Lifts MasterChef Australia Season 8 Trophy

elenaNew Delhi, Thursday, July 28 – With the dream to win new season of MasterChef Australia, scores of people came into the audition round. 24 top cooks were selected among all to perform a variety of cooking, using a number of techniques, and increase their chance of stepping ahead.

The cookery show started on May 1 this year. And, nearly after three months, the show got concluded after Elena Duggan won the eighth edition in the grand finale, which took place on July 26. The 32-year-old teacher from NSW gave her best inputs to win the competition. Despite starting being in the middle of the pack, she continued to grow with each passing day, making judges to take note of her calibre.

She had to contest against Matt Sinclair, the coffee roaster by profession, in the finals. Being equally talented and flair to cook delicious dishes, viewers were keen to see who beats whom in which department to emerge as a victor. At last, it was Elena’s efforts that paid off. Matt ended being a runner-up. Harry Foster, the 22-year-old bartender, got third place in the contest, which gave amateur cooks get a platform to shine.

Elise Franciskovic, a pharmacy technician, held the fourth spot. The season will be remembered for cookery talent of the cooks ending up in the top positions, and also for hard work poured by Mimi Baines, Trent Harvey, Brett Carter and Chloe Bowles. Theresa Visintin, who was first eliminated on May 30, marked a comeback on June 14 and again evicted on July 4 while contesting in elimination against Trent and Mimi, also grabbed eyeballs for bouncing back more confidently. Heather Day was also a contestant who made up to the top 10. Elena and Matt had to cook in three rounds. Totalling points of entree, main and dessert, Duggan was declared the winner of the cookery show.
