Countrymen Pay Tribute to Martyrs of Uri Attack

September 20
04:47 2016

soldiersNew Delhi, Tuesday, September 20 – People woke up to a shocking news on Sunday that mentioned death of 17 soldiers in Uri after heavily armed militants attacked the army base. The attackers threw grenades and set fire to the tents and shelters early morning when soldiers were sleeping.

12 soldiers lost their lives due to the blaze while five died in the gunfight. Four attackers were killed by the Indian soldiers in the gunbattle, which left nearly 20 soldiers injured. It was sad to know that one more soldier succumbed to severe injuries a day ago, making the death toll reach 18.  Nothing could be disheartening to see soldiers getting killed in an unexpected attack during the dawn raid when the masses were sleeping comfortably at their homes. We will continue to say that terrorism has no religion and it is true.

It is surprising to observe young men joining hands for a bad cause. The commando-style gunmen were willing to fight till death and did the damage by killing our soldiers, who came from different backgrounds but with a single objective, which was to serve nation till their last breathe. According to latest available reports, the attack indicated the involvement of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed. Not to forget that this group was also blamed by India for the Pathankot airbase attack, which took place early this year. Such attacks are shameful and those who think terrorism can spread fear are real cowards.

The horrifying picture of Mumbai terror attacks is yet fresh in mind even it has been nearly eight years when it shook the entire world. In spite the fact that Ajmal Kasab was hanged to death on November 21, 2012, life of people who lost their loved ones in that attack can’t be same ever again. It would not be wrong to say that they are anyhow leading their lives since time never waits for anyone. One has to move on but that is never easy. India salutes its heroes who fought for the safety of nation and dies for it too in Uri attack. Life for their kin and friends will now be all about picking up the pieces and moving ahead with the beautiful memories.

Why the world can’t live with peace & harmony? Is it too difficult to imagine a day where there will be peace? It is not the first time that Pakistani terrorists did something that gave birth to anger in Indians. From time to time, they have attacked innocents. Post taking life of hundreds of inhabitants not only in India but also in other countries, terrorists might feel successful in their aim. But it is the right spirit of the inhabitants who try to do their bit and let their lives come back on track as early as possible, making such attacks go a sheer failure. Nevertheless, eyes can’t be closed to the fact that almost each nation is facing terrorism and making efforts to end this as soon as possible. The major question that arises in psyche is that where the world actually heading? If truth is to be highlighted then more than a few social media users are in favour of war but the responsible ones will not advocate for it. Sharing opinion in the shade of a social networking account is an easy job but imagining in the shoes of soldiers is totally different.

If bitter truth is to be told then keeping external disturbances aside, most of the countries, including India, fight on a daily basis with the more than a few internal issues, which are even trivial sometimes. The level of intolerance is rising among the human beings who aren’t ashamed of fighting over car parking, which is a big deal in Delhi-NCR. Not to forget that our elders and teachers taught us to be forgiving in nature but do we actually follow their teachings? Answer will be probably no and there is nothing to get surprised. Many would say that one shouldn’t be so nice in attitude that others should consider him a stupid fellow given that chances of fooling them increase. However, it is also true that whatever good stuffs we do in our daily lives is rewarding, no matter, it is observed in the long term. Our soldiers do their duties by fighting with militants to stop wave of attacks but we surely fail in what that’s expected from us. It is the dire need of time to keep the calm over the matters that can be solved without exchanging blows.

On one hand, this will help us avoid unnecessarily being a part of scuffles and teach youngsters how to be a problem solver rather than being a problem creator. Terrorists always eye for an opportunity to frighten populace being aware of the fact that the masses lack unity. More than a few Uri martyrs left for heavenly abode at a young age. Some were the only bread winner of their families. There sacrifices will not go waste. When coffins carrying the bodies of soldiers reached their hometown, everybody was in tears. The time has perhaps come when India need to take strict action against Pakistan. The country may isolate Pakistan totally in the near term. Whatever the action is taken in response to Uri attack a couple of days ago, Indians expect a solid reply to the neighbouring country, which is a factory of terrorism.
