Mega success with participation from over 450K students!

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – June 3, 2020 – SplashLearn, the premium K-5 game-based learning program used by millions of students, announced winners of this year’s SpringBoard Math Challenge.

The 6th edition of SpringBoard Math Challenge 2020 was opened to elementary classrooms across the United States from March 2, 2020. Even in the midst of growing news of COVID- 19, the SpringBoard Math Challenge attracted a record number of participating classes this year. Over the duration of the 10-week challenge, a total of 32,819 classes with over 450,000 students participated in the competition, over 50 percent higher than last year.

“It is really heartening to see such high participation from so many schools and students from all across the country. SplashLearn will remember this year as special and all the students are winners to us,” said Arpit Jain, CEO and co-founder, SplashLearn. “The credit goes to all the teachers, who have ensured that their students continued learning, even in these difficult times. Teachers have certainly risen up to the challenge in more ways than one and have been the epitome of patience, resilience and determination” he added.

SplashLearn announced “1st Grade Bluejays”, Petersburg Elementary School, Illinois as the National Champions of SpringBoard Math Challenge 2020. The 1st runners-up were “Mrs. Baker’s First Grade”, Sharon Springs Central School, New York and the 2nd runners-up were “Room 4”, Pacific Union School, California. Along with national winners, 50 State Leaderboard winners also won prizes, based on their best of 6 weeks score. The students who participated and achieved their weekly target at least once during the 10-week duration would receive a ‘Certificate of Participation’.

Ms. Erin Noel, the teacher of the winning class (1st Grade Bluejays, Petersburg Elementary School, Illinois)said “The Springboard competition has always been a great motivator for my students! This year, I was especially thankful to have the competition to motivate my students during remote learning! Parents told me it is what helped them most in math during the weeks of homeschooling. My students were so excited to learn we got 1st place in the competition! I am so very proud of their hard work over the 10 weeks. Thanks for providing this opportunity for my students and helping them stay motivated during their remote learning!”

“This year SpringBoard Math Challenge saw mega participation, much higher than previous years. But for us the true success of SpringBoard this year was the fact that students enjoyed the math practice and in the process, minimized the learning loss during this crisis” said Joy Deep Nath, co-founder, SplashLearn. Talking about the legacy of SpringBoard Challenge, he added, “SpringBoard is designed to motivate school students to practice and master key skills so they end the school year with math confidence, well prepared to graduate to the next grade and we are glad that we are able to achieve that year on year”.
